Learn more of your hometown history by joining Local History/Genealogy Librarian Mary Boyle and Cemetery Operations Manager Phil Orr for a tour of one of Santa Clara’s original cemeteries. The City bought the “graveyard” land in 1850-51, and it has gone through many name changes. It has been known as Mission City Memorial Park since 1972. Cemeteries are more than simply a final resting place; they are places of historical significance that help document the past and the lives of the people who shaped it. Come join us as we explore the birthplace of Santa Clara’s death space. Copies of Cemeteries of Santa Clara by Bea Lichtenstein will be available for sale by the Santa Clara County Historical and Genealogical Society.
