What is an Early Literacy Kit?
An Early Literacy Kit is an activity box designed to help prepare your child for school by learning about essential concepts. Our children's librarians have crafted these kits which are suitable for ages 3-5 to be used while visiting the library. Use the ideas from these boxes to get you started both in the library and at home. Remember to follow your child’s lead and have fun!
Checking Out the Kit
Kits will be available at our three branches (Central, Mission, and Northside) on a first come first serve basis for in-library use only. Head to the reference desk or Children's desk and request to use a kit. A valid library card or photo ID is required for check out. Once you are done, please return the activity kit to the reference/children's desk.

There are currently five different kits: Counting & Numbers, Opposites, Shapes, Colors, and Textures & Sensory.
Each kit will include the following:
- 1 Board book
