 Early Lit Kits

An Early Literacy Kit is an activity box designed to help prepare your child for school by learning about essential concepts. Our children's librarians have crafted these kits which are suitable for ages 3-5 to be used while visiting the library. Use the ideas from these boxes to get you started both in the library and at home. Remember to follow your child’s lead and have fun!

 Storytime With Stay and Play

Visit any of our library branches to connect with us for a fun and interactive indoor storytime. Storytime is a magical time for children of all ages and abilities to learn and interact with one another. Our Library staff will share stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and movement! Grown-ups can also learn some tips for engaging kids in early literacy.

We also invite you to stay and play after storytime. We will provide toys, puppets, and sensory activities for exploration and free play.

Take a look at our Storytime page to see our full schedule of storytimes throughout all Santa Clara City Library branches.

Bilingual Storytime Square

During our Bilingual Storytimes with Stay & Play, children and grown-ups will learn, sing, dance and read in two different languages! Designed to create connections between words and meaning in different languages, our bilingual storytimes encourage families to come by and learn about other languages and cultures.

The Santa Clara City Library offers one bilingual storytime in English and Spanish once a month at the Central Park Library on the third Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. Please check our event calendar for details.
