AWIS Palo Alto and Santa Clara City Library invite you to an inspiring evening of women empowerment and lecture by Dr. Maria Artunduaga:
"Life Pivots: Seven lessons from my journey from scientist to entrepreneur"
Dr. Maria Artunduaga is the CEO of Respira Labs, a startup that detects early signs of deterioration in COPD using wearables and machine learning. She has 15 years of experience leading NIH and the Gates Foundation-funded projects, published in the NEJM and Nature, and received more than 20 awards. She trained in genetics at Harvard and plastic surgery at the University of Chicago before switching careers after her grandmother passed from COPD complications. She completed an MPH from UWashington and an MTM from UCSF/UC Berkeley. Maria’s broad range of skills position her to work on the intersection of medicine, tech, policy, and education. She is a frequent speaker on issues involving entrepreneurship, STEM gender-racial diversity and global economic development.
