'Tis the season for science! Check out these cool science experiments that you can try at home with cheap items. Our virtual STEAM labs encourage children to try science experiments at home using household items and/or cheap supplies. You can find the list of supplies needed below.

PLEASE NOTE: For safety concerns, participants will not be able to join in with video or audio. Parental supervision and assistance is required for this program at all times. All experiments are recommended for ages 7 & up.

 

If you'd like to try the experiments along with the live event, please gather the following supplies: 

Candy canes
Baking soda
Vinegar
Tray or cutting board
Pipettes or eye dropper
Spoon
Small cup

Exploding Snowman Experiment
Sealable sandwich bag
Permanent markers
3 teaspoons of baking soda
Vinegar
Paper towel

Snowstorm in a Jar Experiment
Baby oil
1 teaspoon white paint
Alka-Seltzer tablets
Clear glass jar
Paper towel or tissue paper
Glitter (optional)
Blue food coloring (optional)

Soft Snow Experiment
2 1/2 cups of baking soda
1/2 cup of white hair conditioner
