Join the Santa Clara City Library and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) for "Bicycling 101"!
Learn the basics of biking on streets including choosing a bike, appropriate gear, route planning, and safety tips. This class is useful for all, and especially great for people who already know how to bike but are considering bicycling more around town and looking to brush up their urban riding skills. All ages welcomed and encouraged to join!
The introductory course will be covering topics on:
- Preparing to ride
- Choosing the right bike
- Bike safety basics
- Riding rules of the road
- Route planning
- Bike Share

This class will be led by Chelsea Biklen, Advocacy and Programs Manager for the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition. Chelsea has been working in the bike education field since 2014, previously coordinating three different Safe Routes to School programs in the Bay Area. She's taught kids as young as 2 years old and adults alike the fundamentals of riding a bike and how to bike on roads safely. She's a League Certified Bicycle Instructor with the League of American Bicyclists. In her free time, she rides her bike to coffee and teaches yoga.
