Santa Clara Public Library

Earth Day is on April 22 and we're celebrating it all week long with a Groot Planter Kit! Pick one up at any of our three library branches April 19-23 during open hours, while supplies last. Recommended for ages 5 and up with parental help.

Kit materials included:

• 1 biodegradable plant pot
• 1 wooden post
• 1 Groot paper template
• 1 paper towel
• 2 heart seeds

Other materials needed:

• Soil
• Scissors
• Elmer's glue

Instructions:

1. Cut Groot out from your template.
2. Attach the wooden post to the back of your Groot using Elmer's glue and allow to dry.
3. Unfold your paper towel and use it to cover your workspace.
4. Fill 1/3 of your plant with soil, add your heart seeds, then fill with more soil and gently pat down.
5. Position your Groot in the planter once the glue has dried.
6. Add some water to your planter and place it in a sunny spot.
7. Wait for your seeds to grow and give your planter a permanent home in the ground.
8. Enjoy your beautiful flowers!
