The Santa Clara County Historical and Genealogical Society presents:
Ephemera: Scraps of Your Ancestor’s Life By Gena Philibert-Ortega

Tuesday, September 17, 2024 6:30-8:30 pm PDT on Zoom
Registration is required: https://tinyurl.com/4yecu7vk

What’s ephemera? It’s the stuff that much of our genealogy research is built on. Defined as paper items that were not meant for long-term archiving, ephemera can hold great genealogical value. In this presentation, Gena will show you examples of genealogy rich ephemera and how and where you can find it.

About the author/presenter: Gena Philibert-Ortega is an author, researcher, and instructor specializing in the use of social history and material culture to tell the story of historical women's lives. A highly sought-after instructor, Gena has taught material culture and social history at the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh and the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and is a frequent presenter at seminars and conferences throughout the United States and Canada.

There will also be the option to view the virtual program in the Redwood Room at the Central Park Library. The library closes at 7 p.m.; please arrive on time to gain admission to the in-person viewing event. Please do not park in the underground garage; it closes at 7:15 p.m. and your vehicle will not be accessible after the event. There is plenty of surface parking available.

These meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.scchgs.org

This program is hosted jointly between the Santa Clara City Library and the Santa Clara County Historical and Genealogical Society.
